Sherwood 12 Chicken Coop

The Sherwood chicken shed has a pent sloping corrugated onduline roof. Traditional wooden nest boxes run along the rear of the chicken house. Perches are raised with a sliding droppings board below them, this keeps the area leading to the nest boxes clean. The droppings board slides out of the house from both sides where there is a shutter to lift to remove the board, this makes cleaning very easy.

There is a ventilation slide on the front of this poultry house alongside an access door. The pop hole used to be made on the front of the chicken coop, however we now put a sliding pop hole on the left side of the house so that it can be used with an automatic door opener if needed.

If you are looking for a portable chicken coop, the Sherwood 12 is very versatile. Wooden skids are standard on the Sherwood. However, if you need a chicken coop on wheels, wheels can be added with strong metal axles bolted to the underside of the floor that run across the width of the house.

The Sherwood Chicken Coop is very popular as a stand alone chicken house without a run so that the chickens can free range, however, we do offer a 12' run as an optional extra if you need to keep the hens enclosed.

Door Openers
We offer Chicken Guard's pro door opener and self locking door on our houses. The pro door opener is a device that works on four AA batteries which opens and closes the pop hole for you at a set time, or on a light sensor. This works well with our wooden pop holes, but if you would like extra security we also offer the door opener with a self locking door which is a pop hole that locks down into position once closed.

Please note we now make the nest box roof with Stockboard, which is a durable recycled black plastic, instead of wood and felt. This is much better as felt can perish and it can harbour mites under the felt.

This chicken coop is delivered by our team in flat sections for customer assembly. We pre-drill most of the holes to make it easy for you to put together and all the fixings are supplied with instructions. We do not hold a stock of our sheds as they are all handmade to order.
